Schematic diagram of internal structure of EGA/PY-3030D cracker
As a fourth generation cracker, EGA/PY-3030D has a multifunctional gas chromatography injection port that can chemically characterize most liquids and solids. The new multi impact cracking system provides options for the following six analytical techniques: gas release analysis (EGA), thermal desorption (TD), pyrolysis reaction (RxPY), single click cracking, multi impact thermal desorption/cracking, and center cutting technology (HC-EGA). The new multi heavy impact cracking device is highly attractive in replacing traditional chemical solvent extraction methods, as it requires shorter time and lower reagent usage.
The gas release analysis mode provides a sample temperature curve that can display its own complexity and the presence or absence of target compounds. In terms of thermal analysis, the target compounds undergo analysis due to the effect of their boiling points, and are then cooled in front of the column head and analyzed by gas chromatography.
Thermal analysis is applicable to large molecules and other non-volatile materials. Almost instantaneously exposed to high temperatures, breaking chemical bonds and producing pyrolytic substances for chromatographic separation.
The unique multi impact technology can separate the hot section of the sample. And conduct independent analysis on each paragraph. Central cutting - EGA GC/MS analysis, utilizing EGA thermography to describe sample composition and conducting independent analysis of the target thermal region. Frontier ensures that data reproducibility meets strict industry standards.
Frontier disruptors are used to separate and analyze a wide range of materials, including polymers, paints, coatings, inks, fibers, plastics, and wood. The search algorithm used in the Frontier F-Search fragmentation spectrum library covers four mass spectrometry libraries.
The polymer library uses the entire cross-section peak shape fragmentation spectrum to match unknown substances, and the fragmentation spectrum is searched and matched with individual compounds. The EGA library compares unknown pyrolysis spectra with spectra in the library. The additive library contains mass spectra of over 360 additives widely used in the polymer industry.
The full range of accessory devices adds flexibility to the cracking system. They include a carrier gas selector, an automatic impact sampler that can accommodate up to 48 samples, a selective sampler that can automatically remove sample components, a µ - jet cold trap, a miniature high-pressure reaction sampler, a thermal desorption sampler, a UV irradiation instrument, a superalloys separation column, and a mass spectrometry vacuum lock.
In 2011, Frontier Labs of Japan participated in the Pittsburgh exhibition for the first time. Quantum Analytics and Shimadzu will simultaneously exhibit Frontier's new EGA/PY-3030D cracker at Pittcon 2011.
This article refers to IEC 62321-8:2017 "Detection of Phthalates in Polymers by Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) with Pyrolysis/Thermal Desorption Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (Py/TD-GC-MS)", using pyrolysis as the sample injection technique and directly entering the Pyrolyter GCMS system for analysis and detection without pretreatment, eliminating the tedious pretreatment steps. This method is easy to operate, fast, with high instrument sensitivity and no impurities, making it suitable for rapid screening of plasticizers.

3) Unique injection port interface design, no need to split the carrier airflow path. It can be freely switched between thermal cracking injection mode and ordinary injection mode.
4) Stable performance, with low residual levels even after high concentration injection, significantly reducing maintenance time and meeting the requirements for continuous screening tasks.
Thermal cracking; Plasticizers; polymer
Establish a simple, fast, and highly automated analysis and detection method to detect plasticizers in polymers, in order to provide a better rapid screening method.
Plasticizers are bulk industrial products widely used in various fields of the national economy, including plastics, rubber, adhesives, cellulose, resins, equipment, cables, and thousands of other products. The Hong Kong Baptist Convention's Department of Biology has found that mice that have been treated with plasticizers give birth to mainly female offspring, which can affect their normal ovulation. Even if they give birth to males, their reproductive organs are two-thirds larger than normal, and their sperm count is greatly reduced, reflecting the anti male activity of plasticizers, causing endocrine disorders and affecting their normal fertility. The research can be applied to humans.

ROHS 2.0 adds four new solutions
RoHS adds four basic restricted substances, which will become RoHS ten
On June 4, 2015, the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) issued the revised RoHS2.0 directive (EU) 2015/863, and the update to EU RoHS2.0 was finally settled. The original six controlled substances, lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr VI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), were changed to ten controlled substances, and di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), toluene butyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (abbreviated as 4P4P4P), were added. HBCCD, which was previously prioritized as an evaluated substance in ROHS 2.0, has not been officially included in the list of restricted substances. The limit for the control of these ten controlled substances is 0.1%.
After the issuance of this revised directive, EU member states are required to translate it into their own regulations and implement it by December 31, 2016. Starting from July 22, 2019, all electronic and electrical products exported to Europe (excluding medical and monitoring equipment) must meet this restriction requirement, which means that companies still have four years to respond to the ROHS change; Starting from July 22, 2021, medical equipment (including extracorporeal medical equipment) and monitoring equipment (including industrial monitoring equipment) will also be included in this control scope. In addition, toy products that are already subject to benzene control under Article 51 of Annex XVII of REACH will not be subject to the control of DEHP, BBP, and DBP under this directive.

The detection method follows the new general pre-treatment method for ortho benzene. Cut the sample - weigh 0.2 grams and add 10 mL of dichloromethane - place it in an ultrasonic shaker at 40 degrees Celsius for one hour, filter it, and place it in a headspace bottle for testing. The testing time for one sample is 16 minutes. The instrument automatically recognizes the sample content.
